Why is Mockup Important For Any Designer?

Mockups give viewers an idea of how the final product will appear, and the implementation of interactive elements like buttons and icons also hints at the function. As such, mockups have an advantage over and prototypes lack: mockups are more digestible to clients' stakeholders.

A lot of product owners tend to assume that a frontend developer is a person who will take care of the “feel” and “look” of the app. It is true, but they will take care of the engineering part, not the actual choice of colors, shapes, and fonts. Most developers frown upon such requests.

Do graphic designers use mockups?

Even if you don't currently work in packaging design, learning how to make packaging mockups is a useful skill as a graphic designer. Not only will it help you expand your talents (and possibly your client base), it's also a unique and attractive way to show off what you can do.

A mockup suggests what the final design will look like, and is usually shared with clients and stakeholders between a wireframe and prototype. Mockups are essentially wireframes with an added surface layer that communicates the visual design (colors, images, typography).

Importance of Mockups:

  1. When a designer is in the final stages of a project, he or she can take his or her service skills to the next level and ultimately create a powerful relationship with a client by creating mockups.
  2. Mockups are simple to make and can make a brand or project come to life in the client’s eyes. Designers can purchase and download Photoshop mockup templates, create templates of their own, or find free templates to download. Once a designer has a template, it can be utilized over and over again for other clients.
  3. The tools, which are called mockups, are prototypes upon which you can base your application, brand, or web design. Mockups give your project a perfect mix of design, style, and layouts.
  4. Mockups will not only provide you with a chance to design like a pro, but they will also give you the opportunity to catch a good view of what the Mockup design would look like before you even begin the actual work.

What suggestions can mockup provide?

  1. i) Layout suggestion:

A mockup helps you apply several layouts, while also giving you a clear view of what the information you’ve included looks like.

       ii) Contrast suggestion:

It can also provide you with good contrast suggestions so that you can choose the perfect background that fits well with your text in mockup portfolios.

iii) Typography help:

Gone are the days when developers had to decide upon the fonts, sizes, style, and spacing of their application texts based on their intuition. Nowadays, mockup does all the decision-making for you with its amazing suggestions.

Create your design in the correct format:

If there’s one thing we want you to learn from this article, it’s the importance of creating your design in the format that is required for the handover first, then using a mockup as an assistant to show it off. We should know that Mockups are a free download.

Whether you’re creating a mockup from scratch or using one legally downloaded off of the web, it’s in all likelihood going to be in raster format. So it follows that whatever design you’ve created and want to insert into the mockup is raster, as well.
